Jennifer Weiner’s signature is all over ‘Goodnight Nobody’ – in a good way.
She nails the agony of being around people who have got it all sorted, shares a heartfelt love story in the background, and makes it easy to empathise with Kate. She is slightly on the large side and struggles to cope with three young kids and an absent husband in in the midst of extremely chic clique of manicured, organised mothers in a rich suburban life of private schools and healthy snacks at all times.
Kate has a past love who let her down, but she still feels more for him than the current, suitable partner. Added into the mix is a murder mystery, and a well-resourced friend to help her solve it.
This novel is funny and relatable, with the tension of the murder adding extra speed to my reading experience.
